I'm off to New York City on Wednesday morning, leaving from my fair town of Kansas City. The last time I was there I was lucky enough to see Richard Avedon's Portraits exhibition and it was incredible.

Are there any really good photo galleries or exhibitions happening between Wednesday the 7th and Friday the 9th? I'd love to get some tips and see some great photography of any kind.

Thanks!
Chris

Thanks for all the tips! There's s lot of great options for a short trip.

I'll definitely be at the Soho Photo Gallery on Thursday evening for the Krappy Kamera opening. If you see an excessively tall guy wandering the gallery, stop me and say hi!

Don't forget to check with the Metropolitan Museum of Art's website and see what they have- they usually have at least one photography exhibit open. Other galleries worth checking out are Throckmorton http://www.throckmorton-nyc.com/ and Bonni Benrubi http://www.bonnibenrubi.com/exhibitions.php. If she doesn't have traditional analog work up on the wall, ask. She represents a good number of artists who produce traditional wet darkroom prints, including Jed Devine, who did a whole series of 6x17 cm palladium prints of the New York waterfront as seen from underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.
