hey y'all i'm in northern cal for a brief spring vacation with friends, gonna grab my AE-1 and go to squaw valley for a couple days with some friends, then down to san francisco to reconnect with some old buds. Looking to do ski photography and some cool moody photos of hilly san fran and some subway photos (which I love taking anywhere I go!) I was thinking about giving Velvia 50 a shot for this vacation, is this a good idea? Or, I could just stick with some trusty Ektachrome. Thoughts? Opinions? Any and all advice about this is appreciated.

Thanks,
Theo.

Velvia IS Ektachrome, fyi.

Not exactly. One is 100, the other is 50.

...ah, and not to mention that one is Kodak and the other is Fuji. One has relatively neutral colors and the other is known for outrageously lurid colors...

I'd personally, stay with Ektachrome.

Action shots need speed. Velvia does not have speed. Use a higher speed film.

I always found Velvia, even with 35mm to be a tripod film.

Velvia and Ektachrome are very different films.

It is cold on top of SV. Didn't they have Suberia chairlift?
Slide film for indoors and subway is not something I would use.

Velvia is simply one Fuji version of Ektachrome...they're both E6.

I think you'd be happier with a negative film than a slide film. The "subway" system in San Francisco's "Bay Area" is well lit..
