ZEISS BOX TENGOR 54/2, 1928-34

I want to buy that camera but I could find only Goerz on later models. Do such early model have a Goerz lens ?

Thank you,
Umut

The Box Tengor was a Goerz camera that was built by Zeiss Ikon for a couple of years after the merger that created Zeiss Ikon. All Box Tengor cameras had Goerz lenses - the Frontar - except the 54/18 which had a Carl Zeiss designed Novar (actually made by Rodenstock or Steinheil).

The Box Tengor remained in the Zeiss Ikon lineup for decades - long after the merger and continued in production after World War II, offering a coated Frontar.

By the way, the postwar model has the sharpest lens among the Box Tengors.

The Frontar also was useed on the very early VP127 Ikonette and a 1960s 126 Instamatic film model.
