Glycin question

So I think I just managed to mix up a batch of Formulary 130 developer without doing too much damage to myself in the process. When I got to the last step, the glycin, the powder became quite fizzy when it hit the water. Is this normal? It would have been nice if the instructions had mentioned this. Also, the gallon jug I bought to hold it turns out to be not-quite-a-gallon, but I can't blame them for that.

Who knows what gallon jug you got there are lots of different gallons.

The fizzing is definitely normal.

I mix up my 130 9 litres at a time (that uses 99 of the 100 grams of glycin I order each time).

it doesn't sit on the shelf dry very well, so I keep mine in the freezer. It seems to work just fine, and does not go brown at any measurable rate.

The gallon used everywhere but the US is the 4.3-litre Imperial gallon.

The US uniquely uses the 3.8-litre US gallon.
