Glycerine and Glycol - The same thing?

I need to mix some Pyrocat, and I'm debating water vs. glycol. I happen to have a large quantity of very pure GLYCERINE on the shelf. Can I use this the same as glycol? The Photo Formulary site actually shows a bottle of GLYCERINE on the GLYCOL page.

No they are not. Glycerol is 1,2,3 trihydroxypropane whereas glycols are a class of dihydroxy alkanes, based on ethylene, propylene etc.

Pure glycerine is extremely hygroscopic, and it will actually pull quite a lot of moisture from any air it’s exposed to. It could maybe work if you kept the bottle tightly sealed with little to no air in it, but then you should be doing that anyway.
