1) Am I best to make glossy or matt prints to send to magazine companies?

2) Which paper/finish is best for marketing displays?

Thanks and kind regards,

The reason for the existence of matt paper (genuine matt as opposed to silk, pearl, etc.) is that it is non-reflective at all viewing angles and thus ideal for display prints to be viewed under uncontrolled conditions. Matt paper has an intrinsically lower maximum density than glossy and so is never going to be the photographers' favorite!

Every Instructor and Photographer (who has submitted work) that I have asked, say glossy is the only way to go when submitting. Some have even said that some Editors only accept prints done on glossy paper.
