I'm trying to repalce a few broken glass coating rods/paddle pushers. I have tried the plastic ones you can get (made from borocillicate plastic) but for what ever reason I cant get them to work as well as the glass ones. Does anyone know of a UK (or European) supplier for glass coating rods. My searchign has onyl really brought up US suppliers and I am reluctant to get them sent over due to their fragility.

Try Wet Plate Supplies - They list coating rods under accessories, but do not say what they are made of. Failing that, try one of the specialist suppliers to the model steam fraternity - Water gauges for live steam engines are (generally) made from borosilicate glass.

Thanks for the replys, however no joy with them (I'd already tried).

Silverprint : They have only done the plastic ones for quite a few years now. It was either there or |Fotospeed that i got the originals ones from.
Wet Plate Supplies : They have shown them as out of stock for a good long time now. I'll email them and see what's the issue with them.

Looks like I migth have a go with my idea of trying glass stirrring rods with a handle glued onto them. Should be able to get them upto about 12"
