Long term the problem is AF film technology is stuck in the new millennium at best, while digital auto focus advances continue apace.

I can tell you with confidence in years of use - dark settings and fast action tracking, that the AF in the EOS1V & 3 + L lenses worked instantaneously and uneventfully. The manual focus override on the lenses are quite useful too. The bodies will not need an upgrade and the focus motors are in the lenses. For that matter, there are no dslrs that have ECF.

I wish my 5dmkii had the focusing system of my EOS 3... very much agree Les.

That should read: And real photographers with good eyesight and don't wear glasses don't use AF. :whistling:

I was an opponent of AF for yearsbut after using 3Nikondigitals,I wouldn't want to be without it anymore.I ran several comparison testsand now consider MF as being pure serendipity compared to AF:smile:You just can't compete with it.

I enjoy being a tourist some days. But most days it's one of my A body Canons and FD lens. As you see I REALLY like Canons
