Getting set up!

Hi everyone!

A nice person locally gave me some Omega View 45d parts and I would like to get it working on a budget if possible.

It came with 2 lens boards, the flat one has a 38mm hole, and the wide one has a 35mm hole.

It also looks like the ground glass end came off its mount (it was glued?!)

Can anyone please let me know where I should start? I am familiar with 35mm and medium format photography only.

The rear standard has separated from the rail mount and appears bent. Better pictures will be helpful.
It should attach to the rail mount the same as the front standard.

First, I'd go to Butkus' web site and get the owner's manual. Download it, send Mike a few bucks via PayPal for the copy, and study the photos. That will give you a good idea of what you might be missing, what might be broken, and what you have in the way of good parts. The Omega view cameras are made by Toyo, and there are still a lot of parts "floating around". Anything truly "glued" is suspect. And before you get in too deep, take a look at eBay, and see what it will cost you in parts to rebuild the Omega. Sometimes it's not worth the effort. The wide angle (recessed??) lens board is probably drilled for a Copal/Compur/Prontor #0. The larger (flat) size might be close to a #1 in the same class of shutters.

NIce. Looks like a complete camera, rather than 'parts.' If the threads for the rear standard are destroyed you could drill them bigger and use the next larger size screw, like M4 or whatever. Or, try to restore the threads, though these kits might not come small enough diameter for that repair if you want to use the original screws, plus they are going to be too long. As you see there are not many threads to hold that together, because the track needs to slide without the ends of the screws coming all the way through.
