I am almost ready to start processing E-6 in 120, and 4x5. Would anyone who has experience doing this check
my process, and let me know if I am doing anything wrong?

I have purchased the Unicolor rapid E-6 kit in a quart.
My plan is to use their developers, and mix separate bleach and fix.
I have a sous vide immersion heater, circulator.
I will process the 120 in a Nikor stainless tank, and the 4x5 in a Stearman SP445 tank.

My plan it to purchase a large enough tub to hold the chemicals at 101.5F as per the directions.

So this is what I plan on doing once the chemicals are at temp.:
Fill tank with distilled water at 101.5F agitate for 60 sec and dump out.
Fill tank with first developer at 101.5F and agitate for 15 sec, place back in bath, and agitate every 30 sec for 6.5 min.
then dump out.
Fill tank with distilled water at 101.5F and empty seven times.
Fill tank with color developer at 101.5F and agitate for 15 sec, place back in bath and agitate every 30 sec for 4.5 min
then dump out.
Fill tank with distilled water at 101.5F and empty seven times
Fill tank with bleach( Ammonium Ferric EDTA, and Potassium Bromide) agitate for 15 sec, and then every 30 sec. for 8 minutes, then dump.
Fill tank with distilled water at 101.5F and empty seven times
Fill tank with TF-5 fix at 101.5F, agitate for 15 Sec, and then every 30 sec. for 4 minutes, then dump.
Wash film for 10 minutes with tap water close to 101.5

Does this sound acceptable?
This does not include a stabilizer. Should I add one. If so what should I use?
What do you use to keep the wash water at temp? It's a lot of water. Do I just need a really large container and keep it in my water bath?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Process time for a liquid is counted from first contact between film and liquid all the way until the next liquid touches the film. If you assume about 15 seconds to pour out a film tank, you should at least adjust FD time to reflect this.

About the bleach: the bleach part of typical E6 BLIX kits contains Ammonium Ferric EDTA, water and a bleach accelerator. If you mix your bleach with BLIX part and Potassium Bromide, then you should be fine. If you use Ammonium Ferric EDTA as raw ingredient, you need to add a bleach accelerator.

Yes, you should use a final rinse, Photo Engineer has posted an easy to mix home brew recipe here on photrio.

What do the instructions say? Does your process differ from the instructions? If so, why?

Rudeofus,

I didn't make it clear, but yes, I am using the Blix component that comes with the kit, so it is a mixture.

faberryman,
I am using the kit as a base, but using a separate bleach, and fix. The times quoted are from the kit instructions.

I just looked up PEs Stab formula.
He states mix 1 Ltr of Photo Flo as per directions on bottle, and to that add 3-10 ml of 37% formalin solution.
I just ordered some 37% formalin. So, how long do I let the film set in the Stab solution?
How long will this mixture last on the shelf?

if you want separate bleach and fix, then get the kits that have the separate chems. mix per the instructions or there is a great chance you will be disappointed and then not try again. try the proper instructions first, then with your next kit, try one roll the other way and see if you like the results.

Since Formalin has been deemed toxic lately, you may find it difficult to get Formalin 37% solution. Formalin 20% is the highest concentration I could get, but obviously it also works for mixing STAB. STAB time according to Tetenal instructions is about one minute. Shelf life of STAB is listed as "1 year", but is in fact likely a lot longer.
