Gepe glassles slide mount (plastic) problem

The slide mounts I have come with two round points. It looks like the film is supposed to fit underneath the round knobs, but there is not enough space underneath to fit the film (a plastic seam in the way, maybe a rough factory edge). The square edge seems to hold it in place either way. I have mounted some film on top of the knobs (at first I thought that the knobs were only putting a bit pressure to hold the film in place), and some I broke off the knobs and that seems to work without problems. Did anyone manage to do this correctly?

Maybe the two studs are intended as punches, but then, if they would work at all, the recesses must be deep enough to take the two snippets.

With these mounts, the transparency is slid under the two round studs, and the two halves are then squeezed and snapped together.
The transparency must not be any wider than the space it sits inside otherwise the mount can't close.

That explains that the OP could break them off.
I wondered and then thought he applied a plier, which still would not really explain he got a neat cut-off. Sad enough on that photo nor the respective slits nor marks from the respective moulding forms are visible.

(Never used that model of mount and the sheer anount of mount models ever offered here by the many manufacturers is confusing.)

Yes, that seems to be the idea, but just be aware that they often simply don't let the film slide underneath. Maybe I received a bad batch. Perhaps I can remove some plastic with a razor blade or something. Too bad, because otherwise these mounts are the easiest to handle that I have seen so far.

Ah, looks like a razor blade into the slots does the trick, opening it up.
I have to do it on literally every single one though, but it's not too bad.

That was not in the intention of the designer of that mount. But I admit, a wedge at the rim of the stud to ease inserting the film would have made the moulding tool even more complicated.

I am not even sure about their usefulness. I mean, due the rectangular rebates around the piece of film there hardly is any room for it to slide laterally, something which these studs seemingly are intended to prevent nonetheless.

I just looked into the Gepe catalog, I always overlooked this model, actually there are only two of the many mounts of theirs that got these studs.

I have been using these slide mounts for a couple of years. The edge of the film is supposed to fit underneath the posts. Once in a great while I run across one where there is a little plastic flashing that must be trimmed away. I don't think I have ever had more than 1 or 2 in a box of 100 that have this issue. Overall these are very good mounts. They are pretty thick and will not fit in a 140 kodak tray. I have to use the 80 slide tray.
