That was not in the intention of the designer of that mount. But I admit, a wedge at the rim of the stud to ease inserting the film would have made the moulding tool even more complicated.
I am not even sure about their usefulness. I mean, due the rectangular rebates around the piece of film there hardly is any room for it to slide laterally, something which these studs seemingly are intended to prevent nonetheless.
I just looked into the Gepe catalog, I always overlooked this model, actually there are only two of the many mounts of theirs that got these studs.
