Gear Regret : I am sorry I sold that

Sold a mamiya 7 a few years back to shoot with Hassy, Leica etc.

Missed it, so I bought another one.

Guess the combination of portability and iq was just too hard to match.

graflex 3a i purchased 7years ago.
sold it back to seller / returned it.
have wished i had it ever since.
as recent as 2 weeks ago i bid on 2 of them
over on eBoink ... didn't win'em though

25 years ago I was shooting with a Pentax MEF, said to be the most compact camera ever produced (actually they were few of them ME, ME-Super, MEF). It was going head-to-head with the Olympus OM-1 but that is not relevant for the topic. Fact is I was very happy with this camera it served me well throughout tough times - simply got under my skin. Unfortunately I had to sell everything when I left the country to immigrate to Canada (cameras, lenses, B&W darkroom with enlarger and accessories). I was heart broken for a long time. Now I have an entire collection of cameras and a much better darkroom but only last Sun I was able to find and buy another Pentax MEF at the Toronto Camera Show. What a thrill, so many good memories.

When I was in high school (late 50's) I had a Voigtlander Vitessa (L?). Traded it in for a Practica SLR, mostly because SLR's were the new thing. I realized after a roll or two of film that I made a mistake. The Vitessa was well built and fun to use; the Practica wasn't nearly as nice in the hand and lasted about a year, maybe two, and fell apart. I haven't bought many cameras since then, but I still have every one of them.

A few years ago, got disgusted with the junkey thing and sold off my Super Speed Graphic - it was a beater sporting at least two homemade parts. Got good money for it on the auction site but I really wish I had that 1/1000 speed shutter back.

I don't regret selling any of the many photographic things I have sold, but I do really regret failing to buy something when I had the chance: a Rolleiflex 2.8 E (Planar) in perfect condition with lens caps, hood, and case for $300. There were some concerns about being murdered by my wife, but I should have taken the chance.

I sold all my guns, my cabinet shop,my built to the hilt 83 CJ-7, and most of my camera equiptment to move from Colorado to Texas to try to salvage my marriage. She tried to bankrupt me and ruin my life anyway. I am now remarried and have replaced the camera gear with (not the same)some really decent gear. replaced most of the guns, built an even better TJ(and swapped it for a gorgeous Expedition)bought a couple of houses, dont work any more, and have a great new wife who takes really great care of me.

Joke-- Why do divorces cost so much? Because they are f-ing WORTH IT!!

I regret selling it all--I should have just divorced her in the first place.
