GAS: Is it Gear Acquisition Syndrome or Gadget Acquisition Syndrome?

Steve

I regularly tune in to 'Hoarders' on A&E on Monday nights to convince myself that my GAS is nothing to worry about compared to the mess those folks have gotten themsleves into.

Of course last nght I did so while leafing through the dozon or more photogprahy books that I brought home a few days earlier from the used book sale that is a local symphony fund raiser at my neighbourhood mall. It happens one week end a year, and most books are $1, with some maybe as high as $3. We usally go every year and blow about $60-100, and then have a winter's worth of reading for days when you don't feel like getting over to the library.

Wirelessly posted (BBBold: BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.167 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

If I recall, house once diagnosed someone with Gadacsyplasia under the guise of Gadget Acquisition Syndrome. I could be mistaken. He also thought it was Wegner's, Lupus and Auto Immune. Never know with him.

Good then I do not, by definition, have GAS!

But then what do I have?

Steve

You do have G.A.S., but you have managed to keep it under control so well that you don't even know.

So now tell us how.

I have:

35mm: Nikon N75, Nikon F100, Nikon f/2.8 20mm to 35mm AF zoom lens, Nikon f/2.8 28mm to 200mm AF zoom lens, Tamron f/3.5-6.3 XR AF 28mm to 300mm zoom lens, filters
Not much gas here, but when I think about Leica ...
MF: 1935 Certo Dolly Super Sport 6x6 and 645 f/2.8 7,5cm, Hasselblad 503 CX, Hasselblad 903 SWC, f/4 CF 50mm, f/2.8 CF 80mm, f/4 CF 150mm, f/5.6 CF 250mm, 2x extender, four extension rings, RMfx, filters
Definitely GAS pressure here ... always looking for increasing capability ... always looking at something
Darkroom: Super Chromega D5-XL Dichroic II enlarger with f/2.8 50mm and f/4 80mm Rodenstock Apo-Rodagon lenses, Omega Arky Dual-Dri Model 150 drum dryer.
Not much Gas here.
LF: I am trying not to think about LF, but a nice 4x5 ...
