Well worth a look. Some U.S. APUGers might struggle a little with the very strong South London accent. Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins is not even close :D

Fascinating little window on history. I grew up in South Norwood so no problems with accent!

"I'm having to go metric."

Well, that changed too meanwhile.

(Thank you for that video.)

Interesting comment and obscure in hindsight but real at the time.

The film's made 1974 Ilford dropped Half plate and Whole plate film sizes around that time. Here in the UK we didn't use the US 7x5 format, Kodak made a Half plate camera in the UK, and De Vere and one or two others made Whole plate & Half plate cameras

There wasn't the ability to trade easily abroad and any way 7x5 film holders weren't sold here, nor were hangers for processing. By the time I bought a De Vere Monorail with a Whole plate, Half plate and 5x4 back in 1976/7 the first two formats were only available as surplus stock, demand was too low for viable production. The professional photographers I knew mainly shot 5x4 unless clients needed 10x8 or larger.

However he late 60's & early 70's was a time we British began to visit & explore the rest of Europe, some LF photographers would be working there, demand for Metric formats between 5x4 & 10x8 would have been very much higher and as a consequence survived, Hence the Metric camera in the Gandofi film.
