GA 645 Pro flash problem

I just ordered a GA 645 Pro at a good price but the flash is not working. I searched and found some information but it's all old and wonder if anybody has more current repair tips. I am hoping it's just the switch that tells the camera that flash is in the open position just needs a shot of electronic cleaner. Anyone else have any ideas?

The easiest thing would be to get an external flash. I looked at my GA645zi and it will take a basic one but has no other control so any generic flash will do. Better if the flash itself has some control to it.
