I've installed an additional spam tool which should help. Thanks for all the reporting of the spam.

It doesn't seem to have helped much if any, Sean or is it that instead of 3-4 spams it would be 34 spams? Every evening more appears and according to one of our Swedish users of the English forums it is now in the advertisers' section

I truly believe that wanted dead or alive bounties should be issued for internet spammers, scammers, and robo-telemarketers. They're a vile scourge, and a waste of oxygen.

Agreed... and hackers trying to steal personal data... and PHISHers trying to steal personal data... and SCAMMER phone callers too. Frankly, I'd be perfectly happy seeing firing squads for those caught.

Nice theory, just that there is now way to do that.

Anybody want to help me get some dude's pile of gold bars out of Nigeria? He's some expat prince who was the Minister of Finance or something. He just needs some money to pull it off. (If he uses the gold to pay, he'll be found out, don't you see?) I'll give you part of my cut.

All that money won't go far between the millions of people contributing to the golds recovery,

I haven't been able to determine what year dead or alive bounties ended in the US. But it did work. Bring in the body along with proof of some kind that it was in fact, the body of the perpetrator, and collect your bounty money. I bet these scammers would do some serious thinking before sitting down at the computer to ruin someone's life if he thought someone had a crosshair on the back of his head.
It really has gotten bad, to the point that the entire internet is largely contaminated into near-uselessness.
And it's so much easier in life to just be honest. It really does cut out a lot of headaches in life.

I just don't get any spam. Well maybe half a dozen mails a year. There are ways to stop it almost completely. It helps to have your own mailserver and be able to manage a firewall with geoip blocking.

.

For an extra monthly fee I'm sure will have an uncontaminated internet to use.

There is at least one more, persistent spammer I've noted, posting incoherent "clickbait".

Latest spam from RitzPix...

"Back to School Cuties Only 7 Cents" - Very inappropriate heading, and I do not do business with spammers.

For the first time in many days the spam( live TV streaming) seems to have disappeared completely. Either it is blocked or there are no games that it streams over the week-end. The latter is unlikely, I'd have thought, given the amount of sport that is streamed at the week-end.

It's SPAM.
If this is a reference to the post asking for help but mentioning the said cordless mowers then it is ironic that it appears just under Sean's mentioning autoblocking and hopefully a cure :D

Is this coincidence or a Spammer making a point? They seek him here, they seek him there, those APUGers seek him everywhere but is he in heaven or is he in hell - that damned elusive spamerel? :D

I have had a look at the contributor's other posts which seem to be neutral one-liners. Puzzling

It is further proof that we cannot escape spam. No matter our interests someone will try and sell us something in the name of progress.

I think they are just trying to build incoming links to their own site to try and increase their ranking in search engines. Bit dim of them to use a photography site for that.

You're probably right in gaining rank but I'm getting Spam/Junk calls on my cell phone these days. At some point the intrusion is going to have to stop. I don't know when, I don't know how.

I used to like the hand in the cartoons that used to come out of the phone and grab the caller by the neck. Where is that when you need it? :D
