I've such good luck recently with glycin-based things that I thought I'd give FX-11 a try for a speed developer. When I go to use it now, I realize that I can't find general info regarding dilutions, starting times, etc. Has anyone had experience with FX-11? Is it active in a way that allows comparison times with another developer?

The times for Ilford Microphen might provide a useful starting point.

For FX-11, Crawley recommended using the same development times he recommended for FX-3. (page 197, BJP ANNUAL 1974). I suspect that Accufine times and temperatures could also be used as a starting point.

As there seems to be so little out there on this, I'll post what I come up with regarding FX-11 in case it might be found and give others some idea of what to expect. I ran some PanF+ and some Neopan 400 today. The Neopan is still drying but I got some densities done on the PanF+. I tried shooting at full emulsion speed with the PanF+ as I've never gotten better than 25-32 with other soups over the years and I was expecting some speed enhancement with the FX-11. It proved to be about right. Compressed highlights didn't jump out at me visually on the negatives so much but showed on the densitometers. My spreadsheet is set to overlay a second curve at 1/2 the EI to help me visualize the effect of 1 stop extra exposure....I mention that in case it is initially confusing when you are looking at my chart.

According to Crawley's table on page 197 of the 1974 BJP, PAN-F development time is 4 minutes at 68F in the undiluted FX-11 stock solution.

A summary from BJP Annual 1986:
FX-11 is balanced to give the fullest possible speed increase with the minimum granularity increase.Meter setting +80%-100%. 5-6 films can be developed per 600ml, 10% time increase after each film.Development times 68F in minutes:
PanF MF4 RF5
FP4 MF5 RF7.5
HP5 MF7 RF8
PlusX MF5 RF6.5
Tri-X MF7 RF 9
By MF I believe is meant minature format(35mm),RF is roll film (120).
I note FX-11 contains glycin, do the prints look sharp?
