From patience and KEH sales . . . :whistling:

But who are you going to go to first?

Which one gets the next lens?

Such problems!?!

Nice score - especially on the f/1.2 Rokkor and the FM3a outfit.

I notice from here and other posts that you like black cameras and f/1.2 lenses - so do I. My FM3a is black, but I wouldn't pass up a nice chrome one at a swap meet.

Thanks!

It may seem like I prefer the black bodied cameras but that is just the luck of the draw. Of course getting a non-black bodied Pentax LX would require winning a lottery first . . .

For the longest time I've lusted after this:

As in past tense? You've acquired one or you gave up lusting for it?

Oh, I would love to have it -- I don't think I can find one!

Edit: just saw one on the bay, with 1.2 lens... Buy it now $3480. That may be an insane price or a reasonable price - I don't know enough at the moment. Problem is - I've got travel plans this year where that $3K would come in handy.

Enjoy that pretty LX - I know it's Pentax's best!

Only Contax, Leica, Canon, Ricoh, Mamiya, Praktika, etcetera to go.

Real nice start though!

I enjoy shooting the Tomioka on an H1A and SP. Actually quite a nice lens and the hood interchanges with the Vivitar Series 1 35/1.9.

At the mention of Pentax LX, I did a search and price is still very high. Pardon me if I don't know this obvious reason. Why it still fetch such a high price?

It was a great professional quality camera in it's day. For some reason it has reached cult status.

Are you into nostalgia or do you just want to shoot pictures? If you just want to shoot pictures look at a Nikon D100.

No offense meant to you nostalgia people. There is a certain charm to shooting old cameras and lenses of which I am very aware of.

You did not offend the nostalgia people, just all the analog photographers. Now go sit in the corner for a while and repent your sins. :tongue:oliceman:

Haha.... Nice. By the way I shoot with a Nikon FM2 which is not expensive and I'm very comfortable. Nice to know about Pentax history.

Probably not obvious in the lineup I presented is that the LX is actually an interchangeable viewfinder body at about the same size as the non-interchangeable variety.

You can read more about it's other qualities at -> MIR on Pentax LX

Nostalgia? What's wrong with using a fine piece of industrial art for shooting pics?

BTW, do you know of any other camera - past or present of any brand (including digis), that can aperture priority autoexpose a scene for as long as it takes (hours even) all the while monitoring the scene and adjusting the exposure accordingly, repeatedly and accurately?

This one taken on Kodak Gold 100. Using the LX aperture priority, I pressed the shutter before 9pm and the shutter closed sometime after 4am.

I cannot find one. Damn you and that LX Sarile. You just cannpot stop. You do it on purpose don't you?

There probably weren't that many made compared to the equivalent Nikons and Canons. I used to own one until it met an untimely end in a Scottish sea loch. Pricewise I just saw one on Ffordes' website for 250 good old Pounds Sterling [body with FA1 finder] which isn't bad at all IME.

Nice photo. I'm impressed with the LX's exposure capabilities.
