Future travel plans?

Ah yes, Japan.
Only a year ago it seemed entirely within the realm of possibility.
Now, it seems like a fantasy.
I would really love to return to Shikoku island and do the pilgrimage...
maybe someday.

I've always wanted to do the pilgrimage, ever since I lived in Takamatsu for a spell. Depending on how things go this winter (or early spring), I may try to do it as a road trip around the island, since I wouldn't have the time to do it on foot the traditional way. However, we'll see how things go. Infections are increasing daily in Japan (the government is currently blaming foreigners for this, despite the fact that the only foreigners in the country are the ones that live here, and we've been trapped here for over 6 months without being able to leave (and come back), so if we got it would have been from a Japanese person...The Go To Travel/Eat campaigns (where the government subsidizes up to 50% of travel costs) are of course NOT to blame for these new infections (!)). But that's a whole other discussion...

My son (now studying in Tokyo) did the pilgrimage a few years ago -- combining bike-riding and a research project with the pilgrimage. He interviewed the monks about concerning conservation practices for his honor thesis at Cornell University. He did it during a long massive rain storm -- throwing a little excitement in with it. About 2 years ago.

Chile, shoot the western slops of the Andes, the Atacama desert, if worse comes to worse Southern New Mexico.

My wife and I would like to go to Cardiff (about 400 miles away) to visit our eldest son which is at the moment impossible, Wales is on total lockdown as we here in my area of Britain.

Planning on escaping from draconian NJ shutdown to more normal Florida.
