Those of us on APUG who joined the "Choose Film" website from Fuji will have received an invite to the above which seems to be various photographers' interpretation of the subject of "Superstition"

That the lead-in but what I want to mention is that the example shot sent with the e-mail is a print from a Fuji B&W film (one of the rules of the competition, naturally) which has been printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper.

So unless there is a B&W paper of the same name as the colour paper then this is Fuji endorsing B&W prints on colour paper. Indeed my local mini-lab does exactly this. The problems is that the prints look different( not necessarily worse) from those done on B&W paper. There's a caste, although with the scanned print it isn't as obvious that it's colour paper. Some might even prefer it but neutral it isn't.

I suppose that if all the products have to be Fuji there was little choice, it just seems strange that it excludes B&W paper. Mind you if it is trying to promote all things Fuji, including using Fuji mini-labs then there's little choice as those labs using Fuji supplies are not going to switch to B&W chems and other manufacturers' paper.

The exhibition is in London next week at the AOP Gallery, 81 Leonard Street, EC2A 4QS from 24 Oct to 3 Nov. Maybe those APUGers in the vicinity will go along and say what they thought of it and the look of Fuji CA prints.
