I decided to gamble and bought some expired Fujicolor 100 from EBay. Many people are selling this film for VERY cheap.

It all expired in 2010.

I bought 60 rolls at $0.75 per roll and free shipping.

It came in today and I took a roll and shot it out in a couple of minutes. I used my 1956 Kiev II rangfinder and Helios 103 55mm F1.8 lens. I didn't have any fresh C-41 mixed, but I did have some VERY old C-41 that was last used over a year ago.

Saying all that, and especially using very old chemicals, I'm happy with the results. I am going to order a fresh C-41 kit and see if I get even better results. I'm hoping for a little less grain, but I really can't complain for $0.75 a roll!

Note, these aren't artistic or anything, just shot a roll in 5 minutes in my back yard to see if the film was any good. The outside shots were shot at F2.8 and the inside wide open at F1.8

The color was a little off from old c41 chems, but easily correctable.

I'm getting into a 35mm film kick after shooting large format for so long. These 60 rolls should last a while though!

That's a great price. Were they 24 or 36 exp rolls?

They are actually 12 exp rolls. I think they were made for the tourist industry in Japan or something. Something where they only needed a few shots and could run through a roll and get it developed quickly.

Hi!

This looks pretty spot on. Can you share the seller where you bought this film? I would certainly be in the market.

How funny. I bought a batch of this myself from the same seller in October. I love 12 exposure roll film for short commitments and experimenting (I call it "candy"). In this case, I exposed mine at 50 since I wasn't sure how expired it was. It came out good. My only observation is that the film base came out a dull brown color, not the bright orange I usually get. Don't know if it's this particular emulsion (it's my first time shooting it) or because it's expired. Since I make C prints, it took some trial and error to nail the filtration, but I think I got there...

Here's a few from another roll, shot around the house to test an old Voigtlander Vitessa L I picked up. Still using the 1+ year old chemicals too.

This film is awesome for testing out cameras that I get off ebay, or testing camera shutters after I've done some work to them.

I can blow through 12 exposures in a few minutes and see right away if the cameras are any good, or if my fix was really a fix.
