Just picked one up from a thrift shop for $2.00 and it powered up with 2 wein cells.My question is this: I had to fill the battery chamber with 2 small wads of alumimum foil in order to make a contact possible.Will this foul up the built in metering by creating a lesser voltage?

foil? Isn't that a short risk? Is it around the batteries or what? If it's around how about a rubber ring?

The batteries are side by side.Its a strange configuration to be sure.
