Fuji Superia 400 in 120 Size

I checked out the much recommended film store here in Rome and found a film that I never saw before: Superia X-Tra 400 made by Fujifilm. This is commonly available in 135 size but here in Rome you can buy it in 120 size. I bought a roll for novelty purposes but have not shot it yet. I'm guessing that the film is more saturated than 400H.

I'm baffled why Fujifilm would make this film and then sell it in such a limited market. You can't buy this film in China. I didnt see it in the UK. Heck I didnt even see it when I was in Japan the last two times there. I don't think you can buy Superia in 120 size in the US.

It just seems very odd that Fujifilm has this film for sale in such a limited market. Oh well, I guess it will get chopped next.

It used to be available at big camera stores in the USA too, but its been a long time since my local shop stocked it. Kodak Gold 100 was made in 120 for a long time too, and its also gone!

Unfortunately, Fuji has discontinued so many films and/or formats that at times one doesn't know exactly what is available or not.
Now, enjoy Rome and go out and do some shooting on what is still available.

Superia 400 in 120 format was readily available for purchase online in the UK until its discontinuation. I never bought it though, as it was nearly the same price as 160NS and 400H. Had it been priced similarly to its 135 counterpart, I probably would have used a lot of it.

Superia X-tra 400 120 seems to be readily available in Europe. Macodirect still offers this film. I have used it a lot in the past few years in 35mm format as this is the film you can even find in supermarkets here in Finland.

well, here in Finland there are actually only a handful of photo shops that still sell film at all. I´m used not to expect finding what I need anywhere close to home...that´s why I had to do with Superia, even though I must say I don´t like it very much, but that one for some reason was available everywhere.

That is true. At times I feel that we are blessed here that we still have many of them. Many of the Mail Order companies of the 80s and 90s are still here, like Discount Films Direct or Mailshots. Many companies, even many of the local camera shops, closed doors years ago. But, we still have some good companies.

Exactly, I think it´s great we still have access to wonderful products. I have been using exclusively black and white film lately and although hard to find locally I don´t mind mail ordering and it makes me plan my usage more efficiently.
