Dear all,

I've read here and there on the web a lot of enthusiastic comments about the
Fuji Natura 1600 film and I've seen some pictures of very good and satisfying
quality.

I know there exists the Superia 1600 film and I've also read about good
experiences with it: I can easily believe that given the quality I've found in the
400 ISO version.

So, I'd like to know how the two films compare. Do you think (or know) if they
are the same emulsion, but renamed for the Japanese and non-Japanese
markets? Have you ever tested them with respect to pushed 400 and 800 ISO
films?

I know, I may test them by myself, but there is no chance to buy the Natura
in a shop here and the Superia would cost me about 10 Euros per roll... I must
collect some money and place an order somewhere online, here in my town
the prices for films are too high!

Thank you very much!

Marco

I haven't heard of Natura but I have used Superia 1600 at flying displays which took place in the evening in low light and was impressed with the quality. I had more success with Superia 1600 than some B&W at 3200 taken on the same evening but that might simply have been my lack of processing skills.

I simply add this point about B&W 3200 to emphasise the ease of use and quality of Superia 1600. I was taking most shots at the 300mm end of a a very average Tamron zoom lens with only a max aperture of f6.3 and I still found it acceptable.

Natura 1600 is a repackage of Superia 1600,...

Good to know. (As there is a Japanese post-order company whose website provokes the impression they are different.)

Thus, the "Press 1600" is the same film also? Just in a bundle.

Here are the data sheets:

Natura 1600. (Edge marking is 'N-1600', 'CU-4' and the Natura symbol) This data sheet bears a remarkable similarity to

What I think is the current version of Superia 1600. (Edge marking is 'S-1600' and 'CU-4')

The previous version of Superia? This is current on the Fuji USA site. I think that when I did my original comparison between Superia 1600 and Natura 1600 I must have been comparing Natura with this version - ie comparing two different generations of Superia.

Superia 1600 seems to be packaged in other guises: for example Superia Press 1600 and Superia Venus 1600.

Best,
Helen
