It's a lot cheaper than portra 400 and probably won't be around for long. Get it while you can.

Good catch! Ordered a few boxes.

Thread title changed - because "right now" is always so disappointing when "right now" turns out to have been last month.

It's in stock I just ordered five boxes
Understood - but when the thread shows up on the New Posts list three weeks (or three months) from now....
It is merely a consequence of how these types of forums work.

Ditto and misunderstood what you were saying. Yes as of December 3rd

The holiday demand for film must be huge. In all my years I've never seen color negative film in such short supply. I guess that's a good thing, right??

It's more of a supply issue than anything else.

Cheaper? Looks $10 a box more expensive to me.

Maybe price went up in the last 4 hours. Oh well, might be last chance to get it for a while. Or ever.

It's both, actually. Kodak has been saying they're seeing more demand and are incapable of ramping up quickly to meet it, but also we know Fuji can't get raw materials, some of the smaller players got their plans derailed by covid restrictions, and shipping is a nightmare.

@Moose22 wow. They bumped it from $42.59 to $69 within the last hour or so.

Day late and a dollar short. Well, an hour late and $17 short.

I got some anyway, just because I want to shoot it and it may be last chance. But I'd have gotten two more boxes at the cheaper price.

This is getting ridiculous who can afford to shoot film at $70 American a box. Hope some of you were able to get it at 42

This was inevitable surely when a product is discontinued and there is one source only for what remains. There is an argument that for reasons of its reputation any large retailer needs to consider how this appears to its customers in terms of its integrity and affect in the longer term but charging what the market will bear seems to be just too tempting

This kind of behaviour or variation thereof is likely to be the default case and I fear applies to companies as well, including those making films. Tomorrow all makers of b&w film cease to exist except Ilford. I wonder what happens to Ilford prices compared to what they would be with rivals still around?

I use Ilford as my example lest the above were to be seen as the ravings of just another Kodak basher

I swiped a box of 400H from Amazon (via Adorama) at $54 recently. I think someone listed it the wrong price and left it up for some period of time. By the next day, it was listed again at about $99 a box.

The box I got will almost certainly be the last 400H I use.

Dude, it's B&H.

I mean, it's no Abes of Main as far as hucksterism is concerned, but this kind of thing is their reputation, and always has been. Any sheen of respectability beyond "Giant NY area retailer who moves craploads of stock" is a recent thing. I still remember days when they'd call you up to "verify your order" and try to sell you the accessories that are supposed to come with your camera.
