Fuji Pro 400H

Looking for thoughts and opinions on this film.

I live in sunny New Mexico and shooting positive is nearly impossible.

Would this provide me with very neutral colors and soft contrast?

Hi there.
I've used this film and I like it very much for colour portraits. I keep hearing it referred to as "wedding film" due to its pleasing skin tones and speed. I think it really excels in overcast or flat lighting conditions and gives a nice 'wintery' look. The times that I have used it in bright sunshine or contrasty light it does not seem as natural. Still very good though and it will soften the contrast and give neutral tones. Definitely give it a try. What sort of photography do you intend to use it for? Faces, Landscapes?

Have you tried one of the lower contrast slide films, like Fuji Astia (I can't remember the kodak equivalent)? I've found this works well under bright sunshine, high contrast situations.

I've use the Pro400H in my folders, and the results were fine. It seemed to handle the contrast light well enough. You may also like to try the 160S film too.

I've been using it for years for wedding photography...can't fault it. Great natural skin tones and superb greens. 400 too fast for you?

Since you live in N.M I'd suggest you try Fuji Pro160S, or Kodak Portra 160NC if the light is too bright use a 2X or 4X neutral density filter could be used, I would think that 400 ISO would be too fast for you, both these films produce a neutral colour balance and soft contrast.
