fuji or kodak?

Hi I shot a mix of landscapes and portraits on fujifilm PRO 160S colour negative film,

I'm going to start printing myself for the first time and I'm wondering if there is any issue by using KODAK supra endura paper range? or is it better to stick to FUJI cristal paper?

any experience out there?

Well, the big issue is that Supra Endura is [EDIT: may be not discontinued].

In the UK, Fuji CA is going to be cut into sheets by a 3rd party (it's currently available only as a roll).

Kodak make another RA4 paper: Ektacolor Edge, it's a budget paper, a little thinner than Endura, but it prints on about the same filter pack as Endura.

It may be discontinued in the UK but it is not discontinued alltogether.
Supra Endura is still available in sheets and most surfaces except E.

I print on both at a rental color lab and they aren't that different. Seems to me that the Kodak is a little more natural looking and a little less contrasty. It also seems to me that the Fuji is a little more touchy in the filter pack. It also seems to me that the Kodak paper base goes warm with age more quickly than the Fuji. It is mostly what ever you are used to so get which ever is most available.

How come do they list it under "Discontinued Papers / Reference" here then?

Ok, this seems quite complicated. I just had a look and the following is from tech pub E4021:


So, they made a replacement for Supra Endura, optimised for digital printing, but it will still be coated just for sheets? Am I the only one who finds it strange?

I thought it was discontinued in sheets as well as rolls and is to be replaced with a new paper optimised for digital printing.

Tempted to go back and edit my post now so as I'm not spreading false information.

Users of paper in sheets and in rolls are not the same.
I don't know whether you are the only one who finds it strange that different market segments are served differently, but i certainly don't.

Yes, but Supra Endura was first announced as discontinued in both sheets and rolls. Then Kodak announced there will be sheets available until the stock is over, and changed the announcement wording in datasheet. I hope I remember it correctly. You can search the discussions here and you can find Kodak's answer to the question. IIRC, Supra Endura sheets will also be discontinued when the stock ends. According to Kodak, that was expected to happen during this year.

So, when it's over, it's over. Buy it now while you can! It's cheap and it keeps well for years if you freeze it. And maybe if you buy it enough, they'll consider making some more.
