I got some film given to me. Much of the images came out OK the leaks were just the edge. How old is this film? When was it sold in the store? When they had this film was this the Provia 100F equivalent at the time or was this an additional film together with Provia 100F?

It does not seem that be as sharp as Provia.

Cheers.

It was sold in addition to all other provia/velvia/astia/sensia e6 film lines. I think it was discontinued in the early 2000s.

Box speed was iso 100, but it was designed and marketed as a film stock that gave favorable results when pushed.

Unfortunately, i never had the chance to shoot any of it. Would you mind sharing some of your results?

I remember when it was available. It was designed for pushing, so you could use it at EI 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1000.

This isnt' a "provia 100F equivalent" because I remember it being sold at the same time Astia 100, Velvia and Provia were available. In my view, the films' uses were easy to understand:

- Velvia for landscape / ultra-high saturation

- Astia for model shots / skin shots / things that require accurate (non punchy) colors and moderate contrast

- Provia for general usage / saturated colors

- MS 100/1000 for press photographers !

I had a large supply of it at one time in medium format and used it often. It was designed for pushing, but at this point, I’d just rate it at EI100 for normal processing to minimize color shifts due to age.

I have one image posted here from this film, but it’s not a great example, because it was shot at sunset with a magenta/pink sky, but there it is:

Pretty sure this was RMS:

Was Provia 400 available in the day? Provia 400 have been marketed for pushing to 3200. ....

Yes, MS100/1000 and Provia 400 overlapped. Provia was a bit more saturated. MS100/1000 seemed to be marketed to journalists who needed the flexibility of a multi-speed film as well as transparencies for workflow reasons.
