Fuji & Kodak E-6 films, different 1st dev. time?

I was reading another post somewhere that mentioned with certain E-6 kits, (not Kodak brand) that the First Developer time was different for Kodak (brand) and Fuji (brand) E-6 films.

I use straight Kodak (brand) chemistry in a 3.5 gallon sink line to process all my E-6. I have always thought that the First Developer time was standardized, with the starting point being 6.5 min. at 100f, then adjusting longer a bit as the developer aged over a couple of weeks.

Is this not correct, with respect to Kodak chemistry? Have I been under-developing my Fuji Provia?

Revised first developer times for Fuji films have appeared in several postings within the last year. There have been quite a few on Photo Net.

Fuji had trouble with their line of reversall films in the 90s, and I think that led to the change. I really don't know. But the changed times is real.

Since I don't use Fuji reversal films, I'm afraid that I have not kept track of this information.

I think precise times will vary slightly with agitation method. When Jobo-USA was still in business, they published test results with Kodak chemistry and Fuji films needed 30 seconds longer on 1st development than Kodak films. Using their recommentations, Velvia seems to come out per my own tests at about 1/3 stop slower than box speed in Kodak chems.
