Fuji GX680 why so many lenses 15-25 mm apart in focal length?

Hello Team,

Happy Holidays,

I have taken a liking to this camera and system after friend lent me camera and some lenses to
Try out over Thanksgiving 2020.....very impressed with build quality, optics and the look of the Delta 100
Negatives so far....

I found an old issue of Shutterbug and in the ads it listed the lenses, 80mm 100mm, 125, 135, 150, 180
210, lots of options here but why so close together, I remember with Hasselblad using 80 then 150mm...
Looking at the prices in the 90s, you could easily have 4-5k$, tied up in glass...

Why just 10-20 mm separation?

Appreciate your opinions on this...

Regards,

Harlequin

I don't know but I noticed the Horseman medium format bellows camera lenses were similarly bunched together. 65, 75, 90, 105, 120, 150, 180. Seven lenses covered a similar range to 28-80 35mm SLR zoom. Many have different coverage, or maximum aperture. For example the 65 nearly covers 4x5" whereas the 75 has minimal coverage. The 105 is f3.5 whereas the others are slower.

The GX680 was a professional system - you were not suppose to get every lens. You were suppose to get the FOV's you needed - and you had full options. Except for the Fast lenses.

Many of the lenses for the GX680 were carried over from Fuji's earlier MF cameras (ex.,BL690), so it was much easier and cheaper for them to [provide a wide selection of lenses.
