Fuji gx680 mirror stuck????

I need some help. I have a Fuji gx680 and the mirror is getting stuck in the up position. There is an access port inside where you can see the slide mechanism and it clicks like it wants to open and even moves a little but won't come down . I liked it with a qtip and got it down once but it's stuck again.

Is this a lubrication problem? Can I fix this myself or do I need to send it off?

Is there a foam cushion it seats on that has deteriorated? Stuff either turns gummy or powders away and leaves the old adhesive exposed.
