Has anyone any experience adjusting the rangefinder on one of these Fuji GW670II?
Mine focusses a little in front of the desired point when used closer than about 10 feet.
Searching the net and APUG has not yielded any useful info.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has some insight on this problem.
Can I adjust this myself or do I need to send it out for repair?

Thanks,
Mike

Can't seem to edit out the errant E in the subject area.

I've been also surprised about the lack of discussion about RF adjustment/calibration and issues in the GW series. I thought they were rock solid and it might be a consequence of that.
Mine places infinity at the IR marker, but at closer distances seems quite accurate managing infinity just with the scale anyways. Your case is quite an annoyance as then the focusing aid is just useless.

There is little information. For the GW690II I found a post in a french forum where a member there shows the components inside the top plate and places clues about RF adjustments, but nothing too specific. (scroll down) http://35mm-compact.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34492
Otherwise in RFF I recall a member posted a guide, based on the Interchangeable model Fujis, but those had some differences IIRC.

About RF adjustment itself I'm curious how many Leica (and many 135 RF) people seem to manage it themselves.

On the Leica M camera there are two adjustments for the RF.
One is under the chrome screw next to the RF window. The other is the RF cam follower just behind the lens.

From the pictures of the Fuji, it's one of the two screws under the accessory shoe. #'s 3 or 4.

Thanks Prest_400 and John. The link looks useful.

I'll give it a go with ground glass, loupe and screwdriver.

The rangefinder setup in the link above looks pretty much like the one in my GL690. I mostly had to adjust screw #2 since the vertical was way off. Screw 4 is a cam for the horizontal that rotates the mirror with screw 3 being the set screw to lock the horizontal adjustment. I set it up facing a mirror with a bit of tape on it so I could check two measured to the film plane distances on the lens scale at once(5 and 10 feet in my case) while adjusting. Focus on tape, 5 feet, focus on reflection, 10 feet, final check that it focused to infinity.

Finally took it to Camtech in Hamilton, Ont.
Roger found that one of the mirrors was cracked and repaired and calibrated the rangefinder.
Works great now!
