Fuji GS645W sharpness

How sharp are the pictures with this camera using the zone focus? I would prefer the GA645 but I don't want to spend that much.

I have never own that particular Fuji model, but have owned four other models and if you can't get extremely sharp and contrasty pics with one it's either a faulty camera/lens or you. I don't see why the GS645W would be any different.

Within the zone/aperture constraints you should be satisfied. Judging distance is sometimes an issue, though. Camera shake is also a possible concern. Get them both right…

In other words, scale focus cameras are not much different from a camera with TTL or rangefinder focus capabilities.

To make thing fast I’ve even use these type of cameras as fixed focus by setting “hyperfocal” based on the chosen aperture. Acceptable unless one is really nitpicking with a high-powered magnifying glass.

The lens is sharp, whether you're in focus or not The helicoid has click stops at 5m and 2m which is helpful.

simply impossible. Accurate focus is key to sharpness. That's why landscape pictures that rely on DOF for infinity focus often have blurry backgrounds.

I was trying to be cheeky. The lens always produces a sharp image, but it might be in the air...

The lens GS654W is inherently quite sharp. At 45mm, it is not an extremely wide lens, roughly equivalent to a 28mm on 35mm format. Couple that to a maximum aperture limited to 5.6, with a 6-element design, and it is not that stressed to be "sharp". The 5.6 limit also aids the zone or "guess and by golly" focusing by enforcing a generous depth of field. I have little trouble focusing the camera accurately, but then I have 50 years of experience zone focusing a Rollei 35. Your experience may differ.
