The lens GS654W is inherently quite sharp. At 45mm, it is not an extremely wide lens, roughly equivalent to a 28mm on 35mm format. Couple that to a maximum aperture limited to 5.6, with a 6-element design, and it is not that stressed to be "sharp". The 5.6 limit also aids the zone or "guess and by golly" focusing by enforcing a generous depth of field. I have little trouble focusing the camera accurately, but then I have 50 years of experience zone focusing a Rollei 35. Your experience may differ.
