The metal "washer" part that literally has the wind arrow painted on it keeps working it's way loose. First time it actually came off and fell on the ground. It just screws on but just keeps coming loose. If I hold the winding dial from turning I can use two fingers to screw it back on. Any issue with yours? When it starts to work it's way off the shutter feels like it doesn't have enough time throw, that's always a sign for me to check it.

In warranty take it to an authorized repair shop.
Out of warranty open the back and hold the takeup spool stationary while tightening the dial. A drop of thread locker or glue on the threads before tightening should keep it in place. Use a pair of pliers to hold the take up spool and a rubber strap to hold the top dial while tightening.

And it's not a truck. Use the Loctite very sparingly. If you don't have Loctite, a similar dab of clear nail polish will do the trick.

DAB= a miniscule drop on the point of a pin or toothpick does it.

Thanks for the reply. Was wondering if I'm the only lucky one with this issue. Hate to have both this and my bessa iiiw out at the same time

What is your bessa iii out for? also are these problems common on these cameras? They are so new, it's strange servicing is required. I'm only curious as I've been looking for either camera for awhile but the prices remain so high.

I haven't had that problem with my GF670 but have encountered similar issues with other cameras. My favorite loctite material is nail polish. But like John already said; "a little dab'll do ya."

The Bessa IIIW is selecting the wrong shutter speed when the aperture is set to wide open and a couple of stops slower. It likes to select 1/8th if I remember. So if I put it in aperture mode and select say f16 I will get a proper shutter reading in the viewfinder. As I open the lens I can see the shutter change to a faster speed until I get to about the 3rd or so widest aperture then it will loose its mind and select 1/8th.

Man that is a strange problem. Could it be that its metering out of its range? For example if your selected film speed and aperture creates a situation where your shutter speed cant get any faster than max to get correct exposure?

A similar thing happens to my bessa and zeiss ikon when its out of metering range in dim areas, but instead of defaulting to 1/8th it just gives you something way off.

Pointed it at the sky and as a backup to make sure I wasn't crazy did it side by side with my gf670. The gf670 metered correctly. I'm told to expect it back from Japan around November.
