Bought a 645Zi a couple of weeks ago. Kept it simple to test out the camera, These were taken with Ilford XP2 and processed by Dodd Camera. There are straight JPEGs and averafe quality. Original file sizes are all under 2mb but I have the negatives. All I did was open them up in PS and corrected the rotation. The camera performed flawlessly from a operational standpoint. Loading film is a tight fit but I expected that.

Nicely done. Congratulations on your new camera. I too have a Fuji GA camera, though the one I have is the prime lens variety (GA645i). Truly incredible little thing that basically got me started on medium format.

Your pictures look great, however keep in mind you can do even better than this from a scanning point of view. Like you, I started by sending my negs out for scanning to a professional lab in the UK and got only ok results (blown highlights, blocked shadows, relatively strong grain). I thought it was all I could get from the camera/film combo then went ahead and bought an Epson V550 flatbed scanner. After a learning curve the scans are incredible. Give it a try!

Thanks, I do plan on doing some contact prints in the future. This was more or less get out and test the camera at a place I knew would offer some contrast filled images. 30 day return policy so I needed to test it pretty quickly. I am happy it was my over exposing that is the only issue with the camera; and a little camera shake on my part as well.

I will be using a small tripod on my next outing, expose for the midtones, and maybe ( I like to pull black and white ) shoot at box speed

I bought one a few years ago now, having admired it from a distance for a number of years, but unable to afford a new one.

Then along came digital and all of a sudden film cameras became cheaper.

It may be a good quality secondhand one that I bought, but it could easily be my favourite camera to own and use.

Have fun and happy picture taking.

The 645zi was the first MF camera I ever purchased. I bought a well used one 16 years ago. Over the years the LCD gave out, as commonly happens, but there are workarounds so I still use it now and then. Beautiful lens - got me hooked on MF. Have fun with it!
