Fuji GA645zi camera repair

After two major trips and multiple road trips my Fuji GA646zi camera has a fading LCD screen. The camera itself is in perfect condition. Are there any shops that repair these cameras? I can say that I've gotten excellent service from the camera and hate to toss it in the dumpster.

The lcd screen is the weak point of this camera. My screen fails form time to time.

The only thing you need the screen for is the iso setting. ALl other information can be seen in the finder. Iso setting is possible without the help of the screen:

Turn the up/down deal counterclockwise until you are sure you have set the lowest iso value. Then turn clockwise and count the clicks. Steps are then 25, 32, 40, 50, 64, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400, 500, 640, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600.

Unscrew the film plate behind the LCD screen. Pull out the LCD panel slowly until you see the soldered points. Clean the points with contact cleaner. Worst case scenario is to apply fresh solder to the points.

That looks like a very good way to do it. How can I tell what the lowest ISO setting is? I had another thought, since Fuji film is read by the camera and ISO is set as the leader advances, I could just use only Fuji Acros 100! Ha! It's a film I use and like. You're right, I only use the screen for setting the film speed. Thanks.

What I was trying to say was the lowest setting without the visual aid of the screen. Mine is past the point of informative. Turn the knob to the right a turn or two while in ISO mode for the lowest or 25 then working up from there?

If you turn the knob more than 18 times you reached 25 ASA at every case. You cannot get a lower value. Then count from there.

For the first tries I recommend to check the methode with comparision of externeal metered values. A metr, another camera or even a smartphone will do that.

Very good, that's what I'll do, I'll also contact the repairman Frank Marshman about the screen, but I've read that the LCD screens are not available. Thank you for the help and information!

Some have LCDs where the numbers jump around as you turn the knob. This would not work if yours has that issue.

I tried the meter match method but had a hard time pinning it down. It wasn't until I used my Mamiya camera that I had similar readings. If it isn't repairable I'll move on. No sense lamenting the tools of the past.

Dibs if you decide to sell it. All of my cameras have something wrong with them so a busted LCD would fit right in my collection.

All good except you should turn the dial CLOCKWISE to get to the lowest iso!! I learned from ruining 4 negatives on my last trip!
