Fuji FP-100C Instant Film in Polaroid 600 camera?

I've got a Polaroid 636 Closeup instant camera, but I am yet to buy film for it. Naturally, I've been looking at film from the impossible project, but it's a bit expensive for my budget.

Then i stumbled upon this on eBay.

the Fuji FP-100C Instant Film. In the description it says:

- Suitable for many instant formats including: Fuji Instax, Mamiya, Hassleblad, Polaroid, Bronica and Lomography Instant formats.


So my question is: Does it work with my Polaroid 636 camera?
If not, which Polaroid models does it work with?

The FP-100C is a 'pack' film, what you want is the 600 film like the Impossible Project sells. I'm still using the expired 600 stuff and it looks funky but works nicely if you like that sort of thing.

Any of the Dead Link Removed that used the series 100-sized packs. There's still a lot of them about. Also, and this would be a more expensive option, a 4x5 camera with a Polaroid 405 back.

I would be highly surprised if there was an adapter. The 600 films are z completely different technology from the pack films. The 600 film stops developing on it's own and just needs you to wait and then admire it, the pack films require you time the development and peel it apart at the right time then throw away the gooey bits. Plus 600 film spits out of the camera on it's own but the pack film you need to yank it out, so they really are quite different

Find a Land Camera for 10 bucks on ebay...something like a Polaroid Reporter or a bellows system like a Polaroid 250. These take the 3.5x4.5" FP-100c. 600 is a totally different system.

Note that Polaroid 600 DOES NOT EQUAL Polaroid 600SE. Totally different cameras, and the 600SE will take the Fuji pack film.

The ebay sellers claim that Fuji's pack film fits Fuji Instax cameras is absolute rubbish, and coming from a business seller who is an ebay "top rated seller" it's very disappointing. In fact the whole advert is rather misleading. The pack film will fit Mamiya, Bronica cameras IF they can take a pack film back, but many such as my original old Mamiya M645 can't. And I wonder what a Lomography instant format is? Unfortunately too many ebay photography listings are misleading imho.

it'a all a bit confusing. fuji makes 2 types of film:
- instax film
- pack film
the instax film comes in 2 formats: instax mini and instax wide. this is integral film, there is nothing to peel apart. it does not fit into polaroid sx 70 or 600 cameras. it's for special fuji cameras like the 7s for the mini and the 210 for the wide. and there are 2 lomo backs for it as well.
the pack film comes in 2 formats as well: 100 format and 4x5" format. these are peel apart film and they are well compatible with polariod pack film cameras. the 100 film goes into the famous folding polaroids, most of the cheap plastic cameras as well (but keep away from the 80 series). it's also compatible with most of the polaroid backs for the mf cameras as mamiya and hasselblad. and there is a holga back as well.
the impossible project tries to get film ready as a replacement for the sx-70 and the 600 polaroids. this is integral film that comes with a battery at the bottom of the cassette which the polaroids need to function. it's still far away from the old polaroid, but they are making progress. to add some confusion to the matter: they are also selling stocks of old polaroid pack film.
google helps a lot to find out. and if there are still questions, there is this wonderful forum.

To add extra info to the thread:

There is/was Polaroid "Pack film" and there is/was Polaroid "Integral film".

Any Polaroid brand film out there is old stock. Snap it up and enjoy it while you can!

Currently there is Fuji film pack film available and there is "The Impossible Projects" integral film available.

Pack film does not have a battery as the battery is in the camera or in some cases the film is used in a manual camera.

Integral fim has a battery as part of the film pack. There is no battery in the camera.

I use lots of FP100-C (colour) and some FP100-B (B&W). You don't need to be time terribly conscious with development of these films as they are self terminating development. Obviously don't peel as soon as you pull it out of the camera. I often don't peel any shots apart until I get home from a day out.

I own a SX70 camera with the ultrasonic autofocus and a dedicated electronic flash. It was used in the tropics for 3 years and made 100s of pictures, despite blistering heat. I think its days are over, as the battery in the film pack is a strange flat aluminium foil package, which is unique to Polaroid. I will probably pull it apart and canabalise the lens or see if anything can be done with the single lens reflex system. Maybe it's possible to connect the internal battery contacts to a suitable external battery, with a bit of modification/ butchering...

Note that Polaroid 600 DOES NOT EQUAL Polaroid 600SE. Totally different cameras, and the 600SE will take the Fuji pack film.

Also note that the 600SE is a highly-priced special purpose camera that is based on the near-identical, much cheaper, and far less limited Mamiya Press Universal. Pass on the 600SE and get a Universal IMO. You have more lenses and accessories to choose from, and you can shoot either film or instant prints with them.
