Fuji Acros and Rodinal?

Any comments on this film with studio flash lights? I plan to use test this film with both available light and flash, but would like comments on it anyway.

1:50 @20C 6min 45 seconds with 120 ( ACROS ) rated at 32 for N. .11 z1 and 1.25 z8.

Just amazing results. Using Jobo with a 5 minute water pre-wash and water stop bath.

Fuji Acros 100 is too nice a film to subject it to development in Rodinal..so are all the other films for that matter. What is one to do? Pyrocat HD.

Not only is Rodinal not for anyone, it is not for any film.

When Rodinal has been wiped from the face of this earth one can say, "No longer is something rotten in Denmark. Finally, Copenhagen is up to snuff".

Bjorke's photo looks pretty darned nice to me! I've seen a few other things done in Rodinal that also were quite striking. I used to also think why would anyone use a rough developer like Rodinal. But now I understand that it can have a beautiful effect. Do you not see it?

I guess the only way to find out is to experiment and decide for one's self. I'm sure there are pros and cons to all developers.

I liked Acros in DDX, but odinal does a decent job with it.

I've never tried Acros. i suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it in my standard developer first, to find out the differences between it and...say...triX or tmax etc., then experiment with rodinal. No?

Bjork, image is most impressive including the asa 200 you achieved. I like Acros but have wanted about 1 more stop. Looks like you've done it. You said, "1+100 two hour stand development rated at ISO 200". While you said "stand", I assume you did do some agitation.? Could you please elaborate.

Bjork, may I assume that you metered the zone IV through zone VIII range value such that you acutally captured these tones/textures? Do you recall on which paper grade this was printed.

I am not remotely a zone sort of guy, sorry. And for this one I bracketed. I agitated for thirty seconds, then went out for coffee with some friends so I woudn't be tempted to agitate

I made a full liter of solution for the one roll of 120

For what it is worth Fuji acros in quickloads and Xtol is now my standard film and developer.
Rotary processor, 70F 600ml 1:1 @6:30 min. Used one shot for 6 sheets of 4x5. This is the only combination I will every use for as long as I can still buy both of these combinations. I hated Tmax and was looking for quickloads. By the way you can also get lose sheet acros at MPEX, as much as I hate to promote them. It is still expensive in lose sheet form.

Zone Metering

Using the shortcut method, if you had place the white T-shirt on Zone VIII, you could have captured this image in one shot. With my 4x5 negs I could compress or expand the contrast. Now that I am into MF, I can only go N plus or minus 1. I use two film back holders, one for N and one for N-1. If I need N+1, I stick the film frame in to Se.
However, you have convinced me on your web site photos of Billy Jacked that bracketing at least 1-stop each side could in many cases be worthwhile.
Bottom line: Thanks for the openning up mind mind to other alternatives.
