I'm curious about this item. I have the GW690. Is this item replace the buil-in hood or what?

It looks like the surrounding nacelle to the shutter and aperture rings...

I am pretty sure it is part of the retainer for the adjustable lens hood.

It looks like a replacement part.

I think it is the collar that I marked with two "X" marks on the attached photo.
