In the spirit of the day, a ZONE X - Friday SALE - enlarger now $1000
I'm going to keep reducing this till it sells, so don't wait too long before someone else get this
In an effort to fund my BlueGrass Music Photography book project I am selling off my entire darkroom, starting with the biggest pieces first. Many of you may recognize my lab from the time-lapse movie I posted here earlier this year (with the Dave Brubeck/Paul Desmond piece, Take Five, playing in the background). So, here to start with is the focal point of my lab;
DeVere 504 enlarger with electronic elevation motor controls. This enlarger began its life as a DeVere Starlight computer controlled model, complete with ZBE head and computer control unit. About 6 months after I bought it the computer died. I am an avid builder of vacuum tube amplifiers and other projects, so I fabricated a new motor controller unit. It has two toggle switches and two speed control knobs. One switch for the upper camera assembly, the other for the lower camera. It won’t creep fine adjust (I never got around to determining exactly how to do this, the original PC used pulsed DC to step the strong motors at a very low slew rate). You can still use the hand levers for fine adjustment. I retained the OEM connector cables, so if you have the PC controller this enlarger will connect directly to it. For those who’ve never printed on a DeVere you’ve missed out. They are truly a joy to work with. No slop anywhere, everything is heavy and precise, even the baseboard has leveling adjustments. All of the stages are adjustable. I laser aligned mine only once and in 7 years it hasn’t come out of alignment. Bellows are perfect.
Comes with an Ilford 500H Multigrade head. I have it programmed for Ilford FB Multigrade paper. Never misses a beat – I can change from one grade to another and the head automatically adjusts for the time difference. Amazing. Also included is a box of spare Ilford 500 parts including; 1 set of heat absorbing glass inserts, 1 complete 500H head, 1 parts 500H head, one complete power supply and one footswitch. Also several bulbs.
Finally, negative carriers. This enlarger has a Speed Carrier system that I absolutely love. The cassette holder is mounted in the enlarger. Then you have the negative sandwich carriers that slide into place. No opening and closing of the head. If you have two DeVere 504’s you keep a spare cassette holder in the second unit – this allows you to make prints of the same image in different sizes rapidly. The fit and finish of these carriers is wonderful. Thick alloy – very nice selection of sizes; 58mm X 70mm, 57mm X 57mm, 26mm X 67mm (for X-Pan, also works for Widelux), 60mm X 90mm, 35mm and 4X5. There is also an AN-glass 4X5 carrier not seen in the photos.
I'm limited on photos here, but I am happy to send more to anyone who is serious.
Enlarger, both Ilford heads, Speed Carrier system and three De Very lens boards (2 are 39mm (1 flat, one recessed), the 3rd is recessed and drilled for the 150mm lens - Price - $1000
This will have to be picked up at my home in Fredericksburg, VA (45 miles South of Washington, D.C)
