So, continuing my hunt for a good 28mm lens, I bought this on a total lark a couple of weeks ago, as it was reasonably inexpensive. I even bought a T60 to go with it since I didn't have an FD-mount camera!
Results turned out pretty much as I expected based on this review. It's quite sharp in the center, even at f2 where detail is good despite the typical "glowiness." Closeup work is surprisingly good. For landscapes, it's not quite so hot - on film/FF, the extreme corners are never great and field curvature softens the outer 15% or so of the frame at infinity. Thankfully you'd only notice at bigger enlargements, so up to a 12x16 would likely be fine. Overall, a bit too big for my tastes and the street-over-landscape nature of it is not what I'm looking for. It'd be great for street stuff, though, especially on an APS-C camera!
I put together a Flickr album of test shots. I think the one of the woods on film is a good representation of where this hits its sweet spot.
As for condition, I'd call it "pretty ok." Glass is totally fine, as are the aperture blades (though it took me a bit of research to realize that FD lenses need to be switched to stop-down mode and back!), and there's some paint wear. The only condition issue is a ding in the filter ring that I repaired myself with a lens vise. Filters go on fine now, though they can take a smidge of fiddling to seat at first. I've also noticed that the thin front plate (with the name of the lens imprinted on it) occasionally clicks when touched as though it's slightly loose. Includes both a front and rear cap.
Asking price: $75 including shipping and Paypal Fees.
PS - I'll probably sell that T60 at some point, so if anyone wants it now let me know!
Mounted on my NEX-7 for scale.
