For Sale FS Velostigmat Series II 8 1/2" in shutter

This is another lens I got in a trade and don't need.

This is a substantial lens, 4 1/2" across the shutter. Marked: Wollensak Velostigmat Series II f 4.5, Serial #50520, Focus 8 1/2 inches. Shutter is a Wollensak Optimo and it fires easily but I have no idea if the speeds are correct. You seem to select shutter speeds by rotating the outer silver ring and it is a little stiff but moves. Glass looks dirty but in good shape, aperture moves nicely as it should.

I'm not sure what all the 'antennae' are for. One cocks the shutter, one fires it, one is probably for a cable release. But there is a 4th one. I don't know if the box and front cap are original but it all fits perfectly together. Retaining ring IS included. No rear cap.

The "antennae" may be one for a mechanical cable release and another for a pneumatic release. Looking at the shape of the two at the bottom, they look contoured to take a rubber hose.

That makes sense, but, looking at it, the one at 5 o'clock doesn't have a hole in it. It doesn't seem to move or twist, etc. I think the one at 7 o'clock might be for a pneumatic though, instead of a cable release.

The one at 5 o'clock with no hole in the end contains the air piston for shutter timing. Optimos are interesting shutters, nice if they work, but when the piston is worn or corroded, it's all over.
