Hey guys, so I've been shooting a ton of 8x10 these days, and I haven't been using my 4x5 much, but when I do rather just have one camera so I'm looking to sell this because I'm going to pick up an 8x10 to 4x5 reducing back for my new Chamonix810.
So something has to give, this camera is really amazing, very sturdy, and has some really good movement for a metal field camera. I've owned it for about two years, and it's giving me some really amazing shots. I really don't want to sell it but I don't have the money to divert to buy the reducing back without selling something so I decided that this was probably the best option.
Looking to sell this or obviously trade for a Chamonix 810 to 45 reducing back.
After looking at eBay I decided to go with...
$450 for the camera body.
$35 for the standard copal-0 lensboard
$45 for the 12mm recessed copal-0 lensboard
If this doesn't sell within a week it's going to eBay but I'd rather have someone here take it first.
Shipping is not included on the body, which will be $13 extra for CONUS, I'm open to shipping to other countries but you have to find me the shipping. (From Connecticut USA).
The camera overall is in excellent condition, the Bellows came to me new two years ago and I've taken really good care to make sure they didn't get scrunched or anything like that. There are two marks on the bottom underneath the front standard, this happens when you push down too hard as you're bending the front standard in order to close the camera, this doesn't affect anything and it came to me this way, but I figured I'd mention it since it is technically a "flaw". The other major "flaw" has to do with the Fresnel, when I first got it, there seems to be some dust / debris between the back glass and the Fresnel, so I removed both, and went to wash and clean them, I was very careful not to scratch the glass at all, however when wiping the plastic fresnel, I must've pressed to hard and there are two swipes marks one going up in a curve and one going down in a curve, this honestly has never affected my ability to focus or anything like that, everything comes up super sharp and clean and the focus is accurate, and I really don't even notice it, it's more of a visual flaw that an actual functional one, but I wanted to have full disclosure. The Fresnel works just fine.
They really did a lot of good engineering with this camera, it has a measuring area so you don't even need to carry around a tape measure because you can just look at where the front standard lies on the ruler and that will tell you how long your Bellows are, it also has a strip where you can write personal information, whatever you like that might be useful for you, i've never used it but it's the same kind of stuff that would be in the writing area of a film holder, so you can write on it with pencil and erase it, or you can write on it with a sharpie and remove it with some alcohol.
It also has an infinity luck at the front so if you wanted to use a specific length and preset the focus at Infiniti during the daytime and then at nighttime when you couldn't actually see the groundglass do a long exposure shot using that same lens, you simply flip the tiny little peg on the front of the track, and the front standard will stop when he gets to the infinity mark, it's really handy for night exposures.
Oh I forgot to mention, the rear groundglass has a cover, it has a pop up and the leatherette material is the only thing that is sort of damaged, it just got folded and unfolded many times and it's cracked, but obviously doesn't really affect anything but again I wanted to mention it, I'll include pictures of everything. Otherwise this camera is really clean.
I used a special Velcro tape and put some of that around the edges of the camera, I use this with a special camera cover that will Velcro to the camera itself, that way in windy conditions, the cover doesn't fly off the camera while I'm trying to focus. If you want I can cleanly remove the Velcro before I send it to you, or if you'd like I can leave it on, I won't send the actual cloth covered because I'm using it now on another camera, but the work will be done for you as far as putting Velcro on the camera and you can just get some for the cloth, or as I said if you just let me know I'll remove it ahead of time so it's not something you have to deal with.
The bottom tripod whole mount area has both options for the smaller peg in the larger peg so that if you want you can use the heartier larger peg instead, so I thought that was also something to mention, some of these have had the adjustment removed so you can only use one size or the other, but this one has both.
The back except roll film holders, Polaroid holders, any other kind of holder you can imagine that is a slide in, there is a generous amount of space so you don't have to worry about fitting in the larger fatter adapter pieces like with some other cameras. Also this does have the graflock back so you can remove the entire piece and had one of those other holders as well like a 70mm back or some other specialty roll film holder.
That's about it I guess, I can probably throw in three film holders as well to get you started free of charge.
The Bellows has 325 mm worth of draw so you can use lens up to 300mm no problem.
Oh if you don't like the pop up lens shade, it's easily removable on a spring hinge, so you can use it without that also.
Any questions please ask and here are the pictures.
