Here we have the tale of two twins. Separated at birth, one went goth, ate tofu, grew her own bean sprouts, and protested at IMF conferences. The other, golden boy from the day he was born, watches Jersey Shore, owns a Paris Hilton poster, and has a mint green Hummer. (Artwork courtesy of my grand-daughter and not included...)

Both of these began life as a 10", f5 B&L portrait petzval. 5 1/2" tall about 3" diameter at the threads. Both have decent glass which needs cleaning. I'd normally do that but use Dr Bronners and have run out and no one sells it around here. I'm happy to soak the glass in dishwashing liquid before shipping if you want me to. Just ask.

Both are 10" EF lenses. They were, I believe, originally designed to cover 5x7. When they said 'cover' back then, they meant that the 5x7 covering center is going to be sharp and fall-off will be outside of that area. Now, we sort of like the fall-off and aberrations, so most often use them beyond those specs. These seem to barely light up my 8x10 all the way. They would probably darken the corners some at infinity. So, these will work for 8x10 with some dark corners at infinity, 8x10 closer up as for portraits, whole plate, 5x7, and even 4x5 if you could get it mounted on your board.

Boo-ty, the prettier one, HAS a flange and a leather, lined cap. Flange diameter is slightly under 3 3/4", so might work on a 4" board, but maybe not. This one has had the aperture and accompanying aperture ledge removed, so is a very nice & fast f4.4. The slit is there if you wanted to try and add some waterhouse stops, but I'd cover it up with tape and shoot this baby wide open.

Beast, the black one, has been painted black at some point. Who knows why. Then some other person scraped off part of the paint to see what the engravings said. So, Beast is kind of ugly in that sense. There is an aperture control and inside there is the ledge and what appears to be the full aperture. BUT, the aperture lever is not connected to the aperture leaves inside, so does nothing. I'm pretty sure that everything is there, I just don't know ho to fix it. If you do, you can shoot stopped down, otherwise it wil be its normal f5. I've never used a petzval stopped down more than f5, and I've used a lot of petzvals, so I don't think you'll miss it. But if you are so inclined, it might be fixable.

PM or EMAIL only please.

Prices: Beauty (brass colored one) $335 including insured US shipping. Beast (the black colored one) $280 including insured US shipping. Paypal ok, USPS money orders preferred. Overseas ok with extra shipping. $$ to APUG if sold here.

Beauty, as usual, got picked first and is gone. Beast, always last being chosen in phys ed, stands alone in the corner, doing whatever it is that goths do in the corner...

While looking at Beast under different lighting to answer a question, I happened to notice that it has a mm or so of separation along about an inch of its outside perimeter. It is small and not in any image forming part of the glass, but it is there.
