Is Saunders brand better for some reason than other easels?

I like them. It is one of several high end brands, all of which are well built and strong.

Agreed, among the top easels, and usually the most commonly available of the high end ones. Generally the 4 and 5 blade easels are much more robust build quality than 2-blade easels. I actually sold off my 16x20 saunders like this and upgraded to a 20x24 saunders 4-blade.
