One more Rolleiflex must go, this time it's a really fine SL66 with the standard 80mm 2.8 Zeiss Planar, original Zeiss lens cap, one film magazine, the ever-ready case, and a completely unused original strap! (Not pictured, but also included is the original lens shade). Letting this one go pains me a bit, I have to say. I do believe this is one of the nicest examples of the SL66 that you're likely to see. It shows almost no signs of usage at all. Even the black leather case has only a few small scratches in the surface, from being handled. I have no idea when, if ever, this camera has been CLA'd. However, I have run about 8-10 rolls through it and all appears fine.

This is an early, original version SL66 (from 1966 or possibly 1967), totally manual operation. The film magazine can use either 120 or 220 film and the magazine insert number matches the shell so these were tuned to work together. The dark slide is perfect, and the back includes a slot for holding the slide when shooting. The standard focusing screen is installed but others are available (grid, split image rangefinder, etc).
The curtains of the focal plane shutter appear to be in perfect condition. The winding operation works great, the aperture ring clicks right into position, etc. The lens glass is perfect, no scratches, haze, fungus. The focus rack extends fully and the tilt function works as intended. (The lens tilt is one of the things which separate the SL66 from Hasselblads and other, non-view camera systems. It allows you to extend the focus, along a plane, while maintaining wider apertures).

As pictured, there is a small amount of wear on the bottom side of the rack locking knob shaft, apparently from rubbing on the edge of the hole in the case (?)
Many SL66 bodies are plagued with coverings that are rather ratty and unstuck, but this one is virtually perfect. It is starting to lift just a tiny bit in one spot, just where the shutter release button is located. So this might need to get a little glue soon.

If you acquire this and plan to use it I would certainly advise sending it off for a CLA just to be sure. I have one other SL66 (nice, but not as nice as this one) coming back from routine service soon, so I have not had this one done yet.

Not much else to say, this is a really beautiful example of a great camera. Let me know if you have any questions.

$1,100USD + actual shipping (USPS Priority or Express) with insurance. Payment via Paypal. Ships from Boulder, CO 80305.

Wow, that is a beauty, my god... I'd take it if only I knew it had been recently serviced. The last two SL66s I've bought both required immediate servicing in Germany for a faulty shutter (everything faster than 1/125 shooting at or around 1/125) and uneven focusing, immediately making the actual purchase price close to $600 higher...

Man, super nice... you're not interested in any trades, I gather? Nikon FX digital stuff or nice Oly OM gear?

Thanks for having a look.

cgiff, I think I've got all I need for the moment so trades are not sought at this time.
rawhead, I wish I knew more about the recent history of this SL66. I've had this one for just a few months and, as mentioned, I haven't had it serviced. Who knows? It might have had no service, ever. From the looks, it certainly hasn't been used much.
