These Geronars are nice small, light, Multi-Coated triplets, great for portraits at wider apertures and very sharp stopped down to f22. The shutter on it's own is worth the asking price.

I've read a little bit about 4x5 camera lenses and think that this will work with what I purchased... but forgive the 4x5 novice question - will this work with an Omega 45D (I did get 5 boards with it)?
If so, does it include the retaining ring?

There is a retaining ring. It's a nice slightly longer than "normal" lens for 4x5. You need a board with copal 1 opening.

I've used the Geronars. This is slightly longer than "normal" (whatever that is) for 4x5, which means you have enough coverage for movements. It is a classic design and will serve you very well. IMO these are the best triplets ever made, a classic and historically important design with all the modern advantages of a reliable shutter and multicoating.

P.S. hey Dan, I saw some pics from the Summitar, I'm very happy with it!

These geronars are essentially cooke triplets in design. Not a ton of coverage but very pretty lenses for portraiture and nice all around lightweight lenses if you don't need architecture amounts of coverage.

Lens is still available

Thanks
Dan
