I bought this for a Portrait Project and now it is time for a new home. This is a very rare Keith Camera Co. Twin Lens Reflex 4x5 with rotating graflok back. I used a fuji instant film back with it and the results were superb. The lenses are scratch, mold and fungus free and all shutter speeds are close or spot on. Bulb and time work perfectly on the shutter as well. The shutter is also self cocking. Lenses are 215mm Paragons and are tack sharp and have a nice bokeh as well. The close up of the lenses show two screws and two extra holes, there are no holes in the camera where the empty screw holes are, so it is not missing anything. The camera is made of machined aluminum and is very solid as were most vintage items made in the US. There is a tag that states focus lock but I do not see one there or how one could be there. The camera stays put/firm when racked out both looking up or down and since you will have a holder in the camera at the time of the picture, it going out of focus wouldn't be an issue anyways (just thought I would mention it). The camera is in very good plus condition are bellows are like new. What I also like about the camera is the ground glass on the back of the camera so you could theoretically use it in the field as well, but it is very bulky. TRIPOD AND FILM HOLDER PICTURED ARE NOT INCLUDED. How about 650.00 plus shipping (CONUS ONLY PLEASE). Paypal preferred, but I will accept a USPS Money Order. Email or PM me if interested please. Thanks, Mike.

Just by way of an education/history lesson - what is the story with this camera - I'm not really understanding the need for a TLR-ish set up like this. It seems that the parallax errors, especially at potrait distance would be pretty extreme. Certainly an interesting item though.

It certainly is an interesting setup, which is why I jumped on it. If you look at the first photo, you can see a slot in front of the blue sticker with a knob (presumably) attached to the front standard in it - it looks like that automatically adds/subtracts front rise to help compensate for the parallax. I'm looking forward to getting this and trying it out!

The parallax error must be a nightmare with that camera!

parallax error

The camera compensates for parallax error in exactly the way Jason stated. It works perfectly. Previous commentors are completely wrong about the error. Why would they make a camera with such an obvious flaw? Enjoy it Jason, it works great! Sincerely, Mike C.

I don't think anybody is disparaging your camera, Mike. LOL. But I think you would have to forgive a bit of curiosity and confusion. I was sincerely curious what the intention of this camera set up was to begin with - why not just a single 4x5 focused on the GG?

nhemann - I'll certainly agree that for many uses, a "normal" 4x5 camera would probably be a better choice. What a camera like this can do, however, is let you view the frame up to (and during) the moment of exposure, which would be great for shooting portraits (among other things) - you don't have to stop, close the shutter, insert a film holder, and pull out the darkslide, all while hoping that your subject and camera haven't moved since you composed and focused.

Yes, it's definitely a bit of a niche camera, but that's largely why I like it - I enjoy the bizarre and obscure

ah, ok that does make some sense in those conditions. I'm no stranger to the odd ball stuff, either - though mine leans to the lo-fi, antique and home made stuff.

Happy shooting!

Peter Gowland had great success with 4x5 TLRs for glamour and designed and built his own. He even made an 8x10 TLR.
