For Sale: Protar 5x7 Series V F/18-45. Shows some signs of use but not abuse. There is a very slim ring of separation around the edge of the front element. Does not look like it intrudes into the open aperature area. No shutter or ring. Comes with brass push on cap. Price is $109/OBO. All offers considered. buyer pays shipping.

It does have both elements but they are mounted in front of the iris. Yes it does look like one is missing and you are not the first to ask the question.

Photo showing the lens has both elements included. They just sit in front of the iris

I know it's a 5X7 lens, but will it cover 8X10 stopped down w/no movements? Minimal vignetting would likely be OK
I couldn't find any thing on the web RE:coverage.

I honestly could not tell you. The lens is unmounted and I only have a 4x5 camera to use at the moment.
Here is something from Igor Camera.
B&L Wide-Angle Protar V 47/16" /18 #3239129, cover 5x7, non-coated, Volute shutter, cap, Ex+ $220.
Mine is also a series V but I have no idea of coverage. Maybe Igor would know. My price is certainly very attractive compared to this.

Offers? Combine with some of my other items for sale for a great price! My wife wants this stuff out of the house so you know what that means!

The front elements alone should cover 10x8, it's not going to be stellar performance and as half the lens is messing . . . . . . . Even complete it wouldn't cover 10x8, whole plate yes.

I have a Ross 151mm f16 AM (Air Ministry) WA which is a Protar it's tiny but easily covers 10x8. The Zeiss (London) Mill Hill factory was put under Ross control during WWI, at the same time Ross stopped paying Royalties to produce Zeiss lenses in the UK. Their WA Protars were slightly faster than the Zeiss versions.

The most recent post is incorrect as both elements are included in the lens as shown in the photographs.

SOLD.
Odd thing, this lens sat hear for so long and I posted it on Ebay and it sold in 30secs. ??????

Ser. V Protars are uncommon and prized. Bulletin boards such as APUG aren't the best places to sell such lenses. Look at sold closed auctions for y'r lens on eBay.
