I'm selling this reluctantly and only because I have two, and they have both been overhauled in the last six months. Even still, I didn't want to sell it, but I need money to pay for my hobby, for film and paper and chemistry, etc.

Everything works perfectly, including the self-timer. Shutter and rangefinder are accurate. It has some scrapes and other minor signs of its age but it's still a fine looker and functions just as it should. Controls are buttery smooth. I've run about five rolls of film through it since it was overhauled and they call turned out great.

Please forgive the photos. They were taken with harsh, direct light. I'm not really equipped for product photography.

This particular example has some historical significance as it's a very early model, one of the very first to come off the line in late 1949 or early 1950. Has a "P" serial. Sixty-five or so years old, and should last plenty more if it's not abused.

The Contax rangefinders and the IIa in particular is my favorite camera to use, which is why I was reluctant to sell it. With my luck, I'm sure I will drop my other in an ocean as soon as this one is sold. I love the focus wheel and the accuracy of the rangefinder, and of course the lenses.

I'm including a very nice Jupiter-8, the less-fashionable Russian cousin of the Sonnar F2. It takes great photos and is very clean. Looked new when I got it and I've hardly used it, kept it stored in a safe, dark, cool place. It's a 1956-built lens.

Also including a half case, which is literally just a whole case torn in half. And I will include a basic take-up spool.

Cheers,
Phil

Posting two photos taken with this lens.

One is a neg scan, the other a print. Both are taken around f5.6.

The neg scan was at the end of the roll so it's cut off slightly at the top.

J-8 is a wonderful lens, I have the M39 cousin for a FED-2 and it is a serious performer, absolutely wonderful lens.

Old Russian glass is just as good as their Zeiss counterparts, some of the early Russian glass has German elements in it
